A Sweet Tip for Restoring Dry Skin
Fluctuations in weather from hot to cool and consistently cold weather often cause our skin to transition from oily or semi-dry to excessively dry or scaly. Sometimes it seems like even the use of expensive moisturizers won’t resolve the issue.
There is a good chance you already have an inexpensive and deeply healing skin moisturizer on your pantry shelf!
Raw honey has antibacterial properties and pulls moisture to the skin.
Try this easy method for face and neck:
Dip your fingers into a small amount of raw honey and apply to your face in an upward motion. Gently rub in and pat with your fingertips as it gets tacky. When your fingers start to stick to your face, rinse well with warm water. Not only will this help to heal and deeply moisturize the skin, it will also help to wash away blemishes.
Try this honey ointment for arms and hands:
1 oz. beeswax
1 cup sweet almond or light olive oil Optional: add up to 60 drops lavender, rose, geranium or orange-scented bergamot essential oil
Melt the beeswax in a glass carafe on the stovetop (a coffeepot works well) or in a double boiler. Stir often as the beeswax melts. Add the cup of oil to the beeswax and stir until blended. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly. Add the essential oil of your choice if desired. Pour into a very dry jar and label. Put a lid on when completely cool. Store at room temperature. Spoon onto arms and hands and massage in before bed.
